The J. Reid Legacy
J. Reid Menswear has been your “Hometown Men’s Store” since 1965. Seymour Segan started his men’s fine clothing business in 1965 in the Northway Plaza in Queensbury, New York and named it after his son, Jonathan Reid Segan.
High quality designer clothing brands such as London Fog, Botany 500, Yves Saint Laurent, Pendleton, and Jantzen were the names his men’s store were built on.
In 1975, he moved into the first area mall, Pyramid in Saratoga Springs, and soon after was one of the first tenants in the newly erected Aviation Mall. Through the 1980’s and 90’s he expanded his business to include over 12 locations in the Northeast ranging from Binghamton to Vermont and Massachusetts. He also added formal wear rentals and sales through Ameritux, which to this day, has grown to be an extremely successful and consistently growing avenue of the business.
Upon Mr. Segan’s retirement in 1994, his son Jonathan took over the business and scaled down operations to focus on the two local markets from which the business built it’s cornerstone, Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs.
Jeffrey Ives
Jonathan sold the business to Jeffrey Ives, an employee of over 15 years, in August 2015.
Mr. Ives has a passion for men’s fashion and has been in integral part in the running of the business since he came on board. He knows the business and men’s fashion inside and out and has been off to a terrific start.
He purchased the store with a commitment to bring the company back to its glory days, and has brought with him a commitment to the community. We believe we should give as much to the community as we receive.
The store moved to Downtown Glens Falls in late March 2021, rebranding from Jonathan Reid to J. Reid Menswear.
